Thanks for visiting my site. I've been surrounded and immersed in art my entire life, as a student, as a teacher, and as a profession. I was drawn to the art form of encaustics in the mixed media abstract form while teaching drawing at the high school level. Drawing is precise. Formal. Exact. Structured. Abstract art allowed a different freedom of expression. And encaustic, being one of the oldest known art forms, added another level to it. I've been working with encaustics for nearly 20 years. My time living and working in major cities across the country - from Pittsburgh to Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and now Miami - has contributed to a spontaneity in my artistic approach while also influencing the natural elements in my work.
Encaustic painting is a technique where heated, pigmented
beeswax is applied to a canvas, oftentimes with other mixed media. The
term itself is derived from the Greek word enkaustikos, which means “to
burn in.” It is one of the first recorded art forms, yet is still used
to this day to achieve the most modern of aesthetics. This blend of old
and new is what really drew me to explore the medium. My background in
drawing and sculpture has allowed me to hone an encaustic style that is
both intricately complex yet serenely balanced. The abstract elements
and the intuitive flow of texture evoke a sense of calm and nature in
My art is available in several ways..... as originals...... as limited edition encaustics..... and as reproduction prints. The limited edition product is a hybrid between an original encaustic piece and that of a print. The process though results in an original work of art. And here is how it works. I order a print on archival paper of my encaustic painting, adhere it to a board, make some minor changes using mixed media elements, and apply a layer of wax, creating a new encaustic. The advantage of a limited edition encaustic is that the price point is somewhere between a high quality print and an original encaustic. I also accept commissions for limited editions to allow for the proper size to meet your needs.
And as for our
reproduction print products, we use a reputable vendor known for their
premium workmanship and service If you are ordering a print from our
site, while many paper options are available by our vendor, we have
selected and exclusively use Hahnemühle archival papers. This German
firm was founded in 1584. You can say they know paper and its
importance as a natural working appliance. All Hahnemühle papers have
been certified by independent institutes to be highly resistant to
aging, are of museum quality, and an absolute must for many artists like
Another popular print option is on canvas. We only use high quality archival inks on museum-quality canvas. The image can also be placed directly onto a wooden board, ready for hanging. The maple board has been gessoed white to provide ultimate reproduction. So as you can see there are many options available to you. I appreciate your interest in my art and I am happy to help you select what will work best for you.
